You may have seen him walking through the halls. You may have seen him on the baseball field. Maybe you’ve seen him helping out around campus. You may know him from his fire campaign video during ASB election week 🔥🔥🔥. But what do you know about the real Andy O’Neill (‘25) — your newly elected ASB President?

There is a lot about Andy O that people may not have known when they voted for him. So far in his time at CB, Andy has been a member of Junior Class Council, a Lasallian Student Ambassador, a coach for the Special Olympics basketball team, an active member of Wellspring, SALT, and God Squad, incoming SRLT member, Venaver participant, member of the football and basketball teams (freshman and sophomore year), and currently a key player on the CB baseball team.

Now comes his biggest responsibility yet: ASB President.

Andy put a lot of thought into his decision to run for ASB president. The decision all came down to who he thought best represented what a CB student should be, and Andy felt he was the man for the job. After deciding to run came the fun part: the campaign. This is a process Andy took very seriously. You may have seen posters with giant pictures of Andy’s face plastered around campus. Andy admits his favorite part of his campaign was his video.

“I just wanted people to know who Andy O is,” he explains.

On paper, Andy is the perfect person to be your ASB President. Andy lives up to the hype, not just in his extracurriculars, but as a person as well. Having been in the same classes as Andy O since freshman year, I feel like I’ve gotten to know him pretty well. Andy is a dedicated student and is always raising his hand in class. He is motivated to do well and always challenges himself in school.

Aside from his focused and engaging ways in the classroom, Andy is a really friendly guy and is always down to have a conversation. He is funny and makes everyone around him comfortable. From what I know about Andy, I can confirm he is a Swiftie and a big fan of Ken from the Barbie movie. Andy is a big CB supporter and is always in the front of the student section cheering on our teams. His hyped attitude is going to make him an enthusiastic ASB president.

“He’s a very outgoing guy,” Josh Lewis (‘25) explains. As Andy’s baseball teammate and good friend, Josh has gotten to know the type of person Andy is — a friendly, approachable guy. Josh believes Andy will make a great ASB President because of his outgoing personality among his other obvious qualifications.

“It’s really easy to start a conversation with him, which will make it easier for students out there who don’t know him to throw ideas at him that he can implement into our school.”

Andy O receives endorsements not only from his friends, but from the teachers at CB as well. It only takes one interaction with Andy for him to leave a lasting impression on you. Mr. Michael Hood has had the “unflappable” Andy in his AP US History class this year. However, Mr. Hood’s most memorable impression of Andy comes from the social studies instructor’s son’s experience of shadowing Andy at CB this year. The experience of being an eighth grader on a high school campus during Shadow Day is intimidating, but Andy was able to make it an enjoyable experience for Mr. Hood’s son because that is the kind of person he is.

“I was very happy — he’s a good example of an older student who’s involved in a whole bunch of things,” Mr. Hood explains when I asked how he felt about Andy and his son being paired for shadow day. Mr. Hood’s son was apparently very impressed with Andy and enjoyed the experience of shadowing him. This goes to show the impact Andy has on the current and potential members of the CB community.

Andy has big plans for next year and spilled some details a few of them. Having heard complaints about our CB dress code, Andy hopes to work out a compromise that makes everyone happy. Also, as a big proponent of the Sadie’s Dance, Andy wants to put more effort into this particular dance as it has been a dance with consistently low attendance rates. Andy also hopes to create more connection between the students and the faculty here at CB. All this and more Andy hopes to accomplish as your ASB Prez.

Now time for some fun facts about Andy O: Andy is the oldest of three siblings and has one sibling who goes to CB — shoutout to Vern O’Neill (’26)! Andy is also a big outdoors guy and fan of all things hiking, skiing, and swimming. As for his future, Andy likes to keep his options open and is looking to get out of California maybe head to the east coast or midwest.

There is so much to know about Andy O, and if you have any other questions, don’t be afraid to ask him! He’s open to any and all questions, ideas, or suggestions. So don’t be shy and don’t hesitate to say hi to your new ASB President Andy O.
