Over one year ago, the stars began to align. So perfectly, in fact, that they created an everlasting and all-powerful bond between four people. These four people came together and formed the Christian Brothers Space Club.

Marley Downey ’17 is the woman behind the magic of this indestructible establishment.

“We want to share our love for space with our school and connect with people who have the same love we do,” Marley declares. “I’ve always been into space ever since I visited the aerospace museum in Washington, D.C. when I was about eight. I fell in love with the idea of galaxies and planets and have been obsessed ever since.”

Luckily for her, she was able to gain backup for her aspiring goals in no time.

“I made the club with a few people who love space as much as I do so that we could learn more about space and it’s current events.”

She brought in the big guns, the crew, the gang: Fernando Gil ’17, Joseph Nazareno ’17, and Noah Wadhwani ’17. Joseph was very satisfied with the first round of a newborn club.

“I think it was pretty fun, but we kind of left off hanging after the first semester,” the young galaxy lover explains. “We fell off with meetings, but we are planning on being more steady with it this year.”

“Last year we focused primarily on the Star Wars universe,” Fernando recalls. “This year we hope to accomplish more learning for the students as well as outside activities such as stargazing or observation of the night sky.”

The young club is optimistic and ready for a new year.

“What we really hope to accomplish this year is to instill a curiosity into the club members,” Fernando declares. “Space is such an eclectic topic it can vary from anything in the cosmos to physics and mathematical quantitative models that can be used to explain many things in the universe.”

Get ready for an interstellar year, with some new fashion on the side.

“This year we want more variety to our meetings as well as get some super cool shirts,” Fernando hopes.

“Plans?” Joseph says. “Space. Let’s go to space. Shoot for the moon. We, as homo sapiens, are just so tiny compared to how big the universe actually is. We are just so irrelevant when it really comes to the reality of things.”

Space club is one small step for man, and one giant leap for mankind.
