Come on and slam, and welcome to the jam…band.
Among the sounds of teammates yelling, basketballs slamming on the ground and the whistles of the hard working refs in the Ron Limberger Gymnasium, you might hear your favorite pop tune. No, it’s not Beyoncé’s latest CD, but in fact our Christian Brothers jam band.
Jam Band is the latest performing arts program started by Band Director Mr. Travis Maslen. The Jam Band aims to provide the audience with new and enjoyable music.
“This class was started to create more of a hype for the big sporting events,” he says passionately.
Jam Band is made up of several Honors and Concert Band students that truly enjoy playing and dedicate their free time to entertaining others. They work hard to learn new music each week.
“Going to these games is really fun,” Sharif Morton (’17) says with glee. “I think that it brings excitement to the game that wasn’t there before”
Jam Band brings life and energy to basketball games. They create an even more enjoyable environment for students, teachers and parents who attend basketball games.
“I personally love the Jam Band,” senior basketball player Tina Ramirez (’16). “Not only do they play wonderfully but they cheer loud as well.”
Each student is responsible to learn the music and practice on their own, but quickly rehearse together before each game.
“I think that this class will grow and more people will join,” said Mr. Maslen.
Thanks to all of the committed and passionate musicians that form Jam Band.
