The Falcons look to soar above the rim Saturday night and get another victory against the Marauders.

Your Christian Brothers Falcons men’s basketball team takes on their bitter rivals, the Jesuit Marauders, on Saturday. This much anticipated game will take place at Jesuit starting at 6 p.m. The Falcons currently have a 8-6 record and will face a Jesuit team with a 12-2 record.

CB players and students are optimistic for this annual Holy Hoops matchup considering the senior classes dominance of the Marauders. Seniors Jake Fuhs (’16), Cameron Johnson (’16), and Chris Martin (’16), have won every Holy Hoops game they have participated in dating back to their freshman year, a streak Jake hopes will continue through Saturday night.

“It’s really cool being able to say we have never lost a Holy Hoops game,” he says. “Hopefully we can finish of our Holy Hoops career with another win.”

Not only does this years Falcon’s team consist of a group of undefeated seniors, but the team is led by two star sophomore players. Elias King (’18) and Andre Albason (’18), who have proven to be the leading force so far this season. The young players presence has brought out the best from their fellow teammates.

“Elias and Andre are two very good young players on our team and it’s been awesome playing with them and seeing them get better and better every day,” stated guard, Matt Marengo (’17).

Elias, who is averaging an astonishing 28.2 points per game, looks to have another dominant game like his 48 point outing in a double overtime win against Vanden.

The Falcons have had a very competitive schedule to this point in the season. Their biggest win coming against St. Mary’s of Stockton by a score of 68-45. The Falcons also won a nail bitter against Pittsburg High School by a score of 47-45.

Saturday night’s game promises to be another one for the books. With the gym packed in red and blue, the student sections cheering, bragging rights on the line, and the intense battle on the court, it is a must see event.
