Need advice? CB’s wise faculty provides some of their wisdom.
Almost everyone has a story of how someone’s advice has made a real difference in their lives. When asked to share these words of wisdom, CB teachers described the best advice they’ve ever received and the importance of listening to someone else’s wisdom.
Ms. Carla Albright ’04 believes in taking advice and warns that “if you don’t take anyone’s advice and you learn the hard way, then your way through life will be a little more difficult.”
Several CB teachers share the best pieces of wisdom they have received:
Mr. Thomas Guro ’03: “Do that which you will least regret the most”
Mr.Hogan ’95: “Somebody said [to me], the best advice about getting married is if you see something that needs to be done, do it”
Mr. Tomas Capogreco ’86: “I don’t even know who told me this, I think a student a long time ago, is to not sweat the small stuff because it’s all small stuff”
Mr. Julian Elorduy ’03: “Son asks his father, how do I get this hot girl? And the dad’s like, you know what, don’t worry about getting any one girl’s particular attention, work on making you the best person that you can be and then you know it really doesn’t matter, anyone and everyone will want to be with you anyway because you’ll be the best version of yourself.”
Ms. Albright: “Some people are only meant to be in your life for a certain amount of time, just because they leave doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing ”
Ms. Albright continued with her own advice to CB students; ” If you are open to other people’s experiences then you don’t have to relive the insanity they have gone through.”
The most accomplished people learn from others mistakes and acknowledge the advice thrown at them. Words of wisdom coming from loved ones are necessary for overcoming adversity. We hope the CB community takes advantage of the advice given by CB teachers.
