CB is known for being the place to be. But what makes students choose to come here?

Many students knew from the moment they learned what high school was that they would be at Christian Brothers. It’s a family thing and generations of students flock to CB.

Others had to rely on shadow days and open houses to help make their decision. Plenty of current Falcons state that the atmosphere at other high schools was lacking compared to the community at CB. Maddy Barros’ (’16) decision was made after her shadow day experience.

“I actually loved [my shadow host] and the feeling and the classrooms and the way I felt like walking the campus,” shares the junior, “I wasn’t as afraid as I was at St. Francis.”

A big influence on decision is a student’s parents. Usually what the parent wants is the opposite of what the kid chooses. Lindsey Doll (’15) felt pulled to CB and the sports options she had.

“My parents really wanted me to go to St. Francis but it’s too competitive,” admits the swimmer. “I didn’t want to compete just to get on a sports team I’m good with the non-cut sports. There’s more opportunities here”

Opportunities are abundant at CB. That’s why we have students coming from many different areas. Saihej Basra (’15) commutes from Yuba City every school day. He rides a taxi to the bus station to and from school.

“It was my choice — tt’s all worth it,” explains the senior, “I got into the college I wanted to get into, I’ve met great people, I’ve learned a lot, it was all worth it.”

It cannot be denied that there’s always a good vibe on the Christian Brothers campus. There is a sense of community and many students see each other as family and the campus as a second home. So the sports, education, and Lasallian bond of the CB community all attract students to our wonderful school.
