Men’s basketball played one of the most historic games in program history.
Christian Brothers men’s basketball has experienced a resurgence in the past several years. With regular playoff appearances including a long playoff run last season, the team as a whole has made a strong rise back to relevancy.
However, the team executed their game plan to perfection and controlled the vast majority of the game. Star guard Joe Delgadillo(’15) was pleased with how the team’s strategy was executed.
“Our game plan was to make Jesuit play our style of basketball which is a controlled, uptempo pace,” Joe says. “Defensively, we needed to be smart and contain Bailey. I think everyone executed this plan well.”
Joe said this game was a huge boost for the team and they are very confident heading into league play.
However, the effects of this win reach beyond the team and to CB students as well.
Hoops fan Kevin Stenvick (’15) describes it as, “[freaking] awesome — one of my most glorious moments at CB.”
Joe and forward Finn Whetstone (’15) led the way offensively, scoring 20 and 13 points respectively. A key contributor who did not show up on the stat sheet was Taylor Ross(’15), who had the assignment of guarding Isaiah Bailey, who was held to just 16 points.
The team now has a 10-6 record and is ranked 13th by the Sacramento Bee. Their league opener is at Vista del Lago on Friday.
