A Summer Without Students

What do teachers do during the summer?

During the school year, every teacher and student spend eight hours at school and than several more completing and grading homework. The school year can seem overwhelming to both the students and teachers, but for three sweet months, there is a complete break for the entire school.

The Talon decided that the students of CB always talk about their summer, but the real  great stories are the untold summers  of the teacher’s past.

“I travel tons every summer. One summer I lived in Paris I spent the summer as a Nanny and I was able to backpack a ton.” reminisces Ms. Stephanie Howorun, “I once ran a half marathoner in Iceland it was super cool and staying with family is always nice.”

Going to new and different places is an exiting experience, that only gets better if you have people to share it with.

“Every summer my junior high school friends and I meet up and go on a retreat of sorts,”  explains Ms. Tracy Chadbourne. “This year we are going to Colorado and next year we are going to Fiji.”

Summer traditions can be the best part of the three month period, even if it seems its the hundredth time doing the same thing.

“I always spend the summer with my mother in the south side of Chicago,” says Mr. Findlay Macintosh. “It started in the 1980’s and I ended making a tradition of it.”

“Driving cross country getting to and from Chicago is great. I recommend driving cross country with family or friends to all people.”

The best part of the year is summer three months for an escape from all responsibilities with endless opportunities to make lifelong memories.
