Everyone hears about how it’s “The most important meal of the day!” But do CB students agree?

Everyone hears about how beneficial breakfast is. Parents and teachers are constantly insisting that a balanced breakfast is full of energy and will help us perform better throughout the day. Do the students of Christian Brothers take the advice?

Austin Chan (’14) is definitely a supporter of the first meal of the day.

“I like breakfast,” he said with a smile.“I didn’t eat breakfast one day, and that didn’t go so well — I fell asleep in A set. So I continued to eat breakfast from that day on. If I don’t have my breakfast in the morning, I start to feel groggy.”

Raquel Cornejo (’16) also told Talon about her breakfast-eating habits: “I play sports, so I try to eat breakfast when I get the chance. When I don’t eat breakfast, I feel pretty tired.”

Not everyone eats up the advice, so to speak. Jacob Cervantes (’14) has other things on his agenda.

“I think it’s important, but it’s not very high on my priority list,” he says. “There are studies that show how helpful it is to child development and whatnot, but it isn’t that important to me.”

Austin Brown (’14) doesn’t think breakfast is very important at all.

“For me, the most important meal of the day is dinner because I’m hungry when I get home,” says the senior.

Noah Christe (’14)  also insisted that breakfast was unimportant to him.”I used to eat breakfast, but now I don’t,” said Noah nonchalantly. “There’s no difference.”

Each student has his or her own unique experience with breakfast. While some students depend on it, others are indifferent. For some, breakfast can make or break an entire day. For others, it’s just a meal. Is there really some sort of magic in a little bowl of cereal every morning?
