Who is Christian Brothers’ favorite leader of the free world?

In honor of the recent President’s Day holiday, the Talon asked students and staff at CB who their favorite presidents were. Despite the mentioned President’s success in politics and economics, CB had different reasons for their choice of favorite presidents.

There was no real pattern in favorite presidents, nor was there any decisive favorite. CB student and staff at choose their favorite presidents for a variety of reasons.

Jarrod Burkholder (‘16) gave reasons of character and accomplishment for his choice of favorite president:

“Abraham Lincoln: he never tells a lie, he’s honest Abe, he freed the slaves,” Jarrod says.

Some staff chose their favorites for their many talents.

“Ronald Reagan, he was an actor, governor, then became president of the US, he can do it all,” says co-Dean of Students Mr. Levasseur.

Others were chosen for their characteristics in office and their portrayals in movies.

“FDR (Franklin D. Roosevelt) — he was probably one of the smartest and dynamic presidents and Bill Murray played in a movie” says Mr. Tony Caselli ’97.

Another favorite president of CB students was Theodore Roosevelt for his accomplishments in environmental protection.

“Teddy Roosevelt, he established the national parks”  says Eddie Aguilar (‘15)

Although most students chose well known presidents as their favorites, some were fond of lesser known presidents

“Warren Harding, because he died in San Francisco” says Dante Mazza (‘15)

Christian Brothers’ students and staff have a variety of favorite presidents for many different reasons. Every presidents day we get a day off to honor and appreciate the lives and accomplishments of the past and present leaders of our nation.
