CB fanatics are watching the Winter Olympics to get together with family.

The Olympic Winter Games slowly came onto the scene in 1924 from January 25 to February 4 in Chamonix, France. A few faculty and students are watching them today.

Mr. Brendan Hogan (’95) only watches the Winter Olympics periodically when it comes on. He is not a fanatic about it as some people might be, assuming people watch it religiously.

“If it’s at home I just watch it,” Mr. Hogan says. “I like the skiing and fast paced sports,” he says.

Ms. Jill Bennett watches the Winter Olympics to get involved with the athletes.

“I like watching the back stories of the competitors,” adding that she admires the athletes because of their dedication and perseverance to work for their goal to win gold.

Ben Slakey (’17) watches it with his family every time any of the Olympics come one, winter or summer. It is a family tradition to watch the Winter Olympics.

“I watch it as much as I can,” the Olympic fanatic says.

His favorite sport to watch in the Winter Olympics is hockey, but he likes seeing all the different people from different countries. In other news the U.S. is going to face Canada tomorrow February 21, 2014.

Mary Claire Hancock (’17) likes the half pipe competition with the snowboard but she recommends watching the ice skating because it is very interesting.

She watches the Winter Olympics with her family, but when she can’t, she records it. The freshman says it gets stressful when the Olympians have to jump off a slope and land the jump.

Although the Winter Olympics are a fun get together with family there were some major things wrong with the intro of them. For the history of Russia they left out the civil war situation they were in.

For those who have not seen the intro to the Winter Olympics this year, it was very creative and interactive with the people involved. Only the families who were watching at home could see how magnificently put together everything on screen was.

A projector was used to show the history of Russia which was very interesting and cool. The Winter Olympics are a long lasting entertaining past time for sports fans to get together and have fun with their families.
