Sports fans everywhere have their own preferences on what they like to watch, and all believe they make the right choice.
One dilemma a sports fan faces is whether to watch the NFL or NCAA football.
Junior Kellen Ralph (’15) prefers the collegiate level.
“I like college more because the unpredictability is fun to see. Like there are so many teams, and any one of them can just go off and be undefeated. Seeing stories like Fresno State or Northern Illinois this season is fun to follow and watch.”
The college playoff system has come under much scrutiny during recent years, and is being changed to a 4 team playoff starting next season.
Miami Dolphins superfan Kevin Vaughn (’15) likes the NFL more.
“NFL is so much better. It is better pulicized and more people watch it. They are the guys who made it from the college level so I like it more.”
Cowboys fan Matt Spain (’15) agrees with Kevin in supporting the NFL.
“I like both but the NFL is better to watch for me because the defenses are way better so the games are closer. I prefer watching a 21-10 game with good defenses over a 67-46 game with a bunch oh highlight reel plays. Close games are more fun to watch, and the pro style is better for a football player to appreciate.”
Steeler fan Corie Louie (’15) has other reasons to like the NFL more.
“I like the video games for NFL more; Madden is so much better than NCAA. Also it is easier to root for just one team in football because there are only 32, as opposed to college having like 130 or something.”
New England sports fanatic Ms. Flaherty
“I think the NFL has more of a level playing field so it is more fun to see. Specifically in the budget for the programs, a team like Nevada is at a major disadvantage against an Alabama or an Oregon. The NFL teams are all about the same in this department>”
Despite many strong opinions on the topic, no one level of athletics is better than the other, and everyone has the right to their own opinion.
