Salutatorian Alex Daly and Valedictorian Ryan Dempsey have more than earned their honors as top members of the Class of 2013.

The two young men who will be representing the Class of 2013 at the commencement ceremony at Memorial Auditorium on May 24 are Alex Daly (’13) as salutatorian and Ryan Dempsey (’13) as valedictorian. Both seniors have been in the scholars program at CB since they were freshmen.

As the student with the highest GPA in the senior class, Ryan Dempsey has earned the title valedictorian.

“I am really looking forward to Ryan’s speech,” said Kate Houston (’13). “I don’t really know him that well, but he seems like a genuine, sweet guy who always has a smile on his face.”

“Ryan Dempsey is a really good student,” added Rob Belme (’13). “I always see him working hard.”

The seniors have a very positive opinion on their valedictorian. Some, like Hunter RappLauleye (’13),  have been in classes with Ryan since freshman year.

“Ryan is the most humble person I have ever met,” he explained. “A guy as smart as he is could really rub his intelligence in your face, but he doesn’t and I respect him for that.”

The salutatorian is a senior with very high academics and is chosen by the senior class. This year there were many possible choices, but the class felt Alex Daly was fit for the job.

“I’m very excited to hear Alex Daly,” said Lauren Payne (’13). “I think he really deserves his position.”

Many students have gotten to know Alex Daly as one of the faces of KBFT. He has won national awards for his video editing skill and excellent writing.

“Alex daly’s captivating voice will definitely prove for a great speech,” said avid KBFT viewer Cory Lutz (’13).

As for his college plans, Alex will attend Northwestern University, where he will study journalism.

Without a doubt, this years salutatorian and valedictorian have made their mark on CB. Congratulations Alex and Ryan!
