Alternative Education Options Abound

Discover the benefits of going to a local two-year college institution.

Some students at Christian Brothers are opting to do some time at a local junior college in the Los Rios Community College District. This is a smart path as, along with saving money, students have a better chance of getting in to the college of their choice as transferring juniors, especially with a community college special transfer paths.

Nathan Lowe (‘13), who will be attending Sacramento City College next year, says, “It will give me opportunities!”

“I feel that city and junior college in general is a very great decision,” says Mark Wilson (‘13).

“Not only has it been relatively easy to sign up,” says Justin Broussard (‘13), “but I am getting to take important classes that will definitely pay off.”

If a student wishes to sign up for a local community college, they must take a few easy steps.

The best route to signing up  is doing a New Student Friday. At a New Student Friday, a student will meet a counselor, take required tests, and get a tour of the campus.

If a student plans to sign up but doesn’t do a New Student Friday, they will have to schedule and do all of those things individually which is very difficult and time consuming.

Once a student is signed up, is in the system, and has done a new student Friday, all they have to do is check their E-summaries account that they get when they sign up, to find out when their date and time is to sign up for their specific classes.

If you still need to sign up, do it quick because class scheduling is going to be happening soon and you don’t want to miss out at all the action!
