Results trainer Tom Ruelas has been working with members of CB’s Track and Field team to produce better results this upcoming season. Intense workouts several days a week have become commonplace for track and field participants over the past few months, and will assuredly better the performance of each individual on the roster.

Junior Sophia Davis (’14) believes that the program’s focus on lower body strength has improved her speed and explosiveness, and therefore her chances of success.

“I’m excited to get a first place medal now that I’m on Varsity,” Davis says.

Varsity runner Austin Hart (’14) has developed a healthy confidence which stems from the team’s work in the weight room.

“We are all maturing, slowly but surely, and should be able to shave time off of our events” says Hart.

But rigorous workouts are not the only sign of a bright future for the team. The illustrious track record of many of CB’s young athletes in the sport foreshadows success for the 2013 season.

Junior Erik Bloomquist (’14) was one of the Sacramento region’s fastest runners in the 100 and 200 meter races as a sophomore and shows tremendous upside as he matures in his track career. Bloomquist aspires to compete at regional and statewide finals before his season comes to a close.

Two long distance runners hold similar aspirations going into the season. Juniors Max Pedrotti (’14)  and Eric Domek (’14) hold titles as some of the fastest long distance runners to ever come through CB. Elite talents such as these show extreme promise for the Brother’s track and field team and increase the Falcon’s chances of success among California’s most decorated runners.

But whether these individuals succeed or not, the Christian Brothers track and field program shows growth and promise moving into the future.
