CB Catches Super Bowl Fever

With the Niners and a former Falcon in the big game, CB students and teachers are pumped for Super Bowl XLVII.

The Har-Bowl. The Bro Bowl. Brothers in the Big Easy.

These are just some of the many nicknames for Super Bowl XLVII, which will be between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens. The head coaches of the teams — Jim Harbaugh for San Francisco and John Harbaugh of Baltimore — are brothers, hence the nicknames for this year’s game.

Many students and teachers at CB are torn between the two teams. As NorCal residents, most feel obligated to the 49ers. But as Christian Brothers students and teachers, there is an attraction to the Ravens because CB alum Asa Jackson ’08 is a cornerback for the Ravens and is on the active roster for Sunday’s game.

Senior Meggie Larson (’13) has lived in Sacramento all of her life and is proud to support the 49ers.

“I have to represent that Cali’ swag,” she boasted.

It seems as if most of the student body is rooting for San Fransisco except for freshmen Anthony Gentilie (’16) and Robert Pamatian (’16).

“The Ravens are going to win, obviously,” proclaimed Robert. “Ray Lewis is gonna’ go [hard].”

“Honestly, I think the Niners are going to win,” Anthony said sadly. “But I’m rooting for the Ravens!”

Some CB staff members are exuberant for the upcoming game. Mr. Dave Levasseur has been a Niners fan for all of his life, and can’t wait to see his team play on Sunday.

“When I was growing up, they were winning all the Super Bowls,” he said fanatically. “I’d record the Super Bowl on VHS so I could watch it over and over.”

Everyone seems to be confident that their team will win Super Bowl XLVII, but only one team will prevail.
