Find out about one of the most popular Theatre events at CB.
Theatre Director, Mr. Connor Mickiewicz called it “inspiring.”
He was referring to dedication of the One Acts cast members and directors as they rehearsed vehemently for the upcoming One Act performances. Mr. Mickiewicz is a new teacher at Christian Brothers and is very proud of the hard work of the students involved in One Acts.
“The students are directing me,” the Theatre instructor remarked.
Many Christian Brothers students do not know about the One Acts, or just how much fun they can be. A One Act is a five to forty-five minute short play or performance written and performed by CB students. This year we will be graced with seeing, among other extraordinary One Acts, a comedic rendition of “Cinderella” and an adaptation of “The Nightmare before Christmas”
One Acts are a brilliant opportunity for Students without the time to act in a traditional play to still embrace the performing arts. Student writers and directors get to see their visions become a reality on stage.
One Acts this year will have six showings. Friday the 25th at 7p.m. Saturday the 26th at 2p.m. and Sunday the 27th at 2p.m. Then again Friday the 1st of February at 7p.m. Saturday the 2nd at 7p.m. and Sunday the 3rd at 2p.m.
In the absence of the Little Theatre this year, One Acts will be performed at New Helvetia Theatre at 10th and R streets. Mr. Mickiewicz hopes for a large turnout of CB patrons this year. He thinks it would be wonderful for CB students to “come out and see just how talented their fellow students are.”
