CB Women’s Tennis finishes up one of the most successful seasons in school history.
The Christian Brothers women’s varsity tennis team concluded their regular season home games this week they defeated Casa Roble. With the win comes a great farewell for all the seniors as they enjoyed a spectacular senior night.
For seniors like : Maria Castro (’13), Angelica Deturo (’13), Bianca Ramos (’13), Clara Johnson (’13), Audrey Carroll (’13), and Cherry Wells (’13) it was the last time they will take the court at the Laguna Creek Racquet Club. Castro, who played three years of tennis at Christian Brothers, has really enjoyed her experience.
“It’s been great — I’ve had great coaches [while playing],” she said. “I’ve most enjoyed playing #3 doubles with Angelica Deturo because we have worked really hard [together], so it was fun sharing victories with my best friend.”
It should be noted that while playing together, Castro and Deturo call themselves “the walls” because seemingly none of their opponents’ shots get past them.
Hard work has been a great part of Castro’s success since she began playing tennis. As a sophomore, she was 12th ranked on a team of 16, however this year she is 5th ranked on this team, with a personal undefeated record in league and 12-1 overall this season.
Other dominant doubles players include: #1 Ramos and Hannah Hawkins (’14) as well as #2 Sophia Davis (’14) and Isabella Granucci (’15). They join top-ranked singles stars like Johnson, Sophie Lee (’14), and Agata Aks (’14).
Make sure to support our women’s tennis team as they continue to make their run to playoffs.
