A heartwarming reflection of Holy Bowl XLII.
This is our year.
We hear it again and again – Christian Brothers raises its hopes for the Holy Bowl game each September. We will beat Jesuit this year. We have a strong team. We made the top 20 in the Sacramento Bee.
Despite all the hype, it is the sad reality that Jesuit High School has more boys to choose from, so they usually come up with a slightly better team.
But that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t our year.
From the tie-dye parties the week before the game, to the powerful screams from the Falcon Force, CB has brought spirit and energy to each and every Holy Bowl game for 42 years.
Presenting a strong team this year, CB fans were behind our players every step of the way. Although our Falcons could not come out with a win, 28- 23 is a respectable loss, and Brothers fans can hold their heads up high.
My freshmen year, our boys fought hard and were victorious. The excitement that all of the CB fans shared as we stormed the field that night is something I will never forget.
But the dedication and class that our players displayed and CB fans’ ability to come together and support the underdog year after year is a beautiful thing in and of itself.
So to my fellow Falcons I say, this was our year. And next year, and the year after that, and twenty years after that.
We are Falcons, and together, we stand strong.
