Many of CB’s own artistic seniors are the creators of a soon to be masterpiece.
The “Senior Wall”, a blank area on the Main Lawn near the cafeteria, is an annual tradition for the senior class to leave their mark on Christian Brothers.
The theme for the senior wall this year is “the end is just the beginning”, which will be symbolized by a hot air balloon departing from the CB campus.
“[The balloon represents] our class leaving CB,to start a new beginning somewhere else,” says Jessica Edgar (’13), one of the artists for this year’s Senior Wall
Before coming to the conclusion of the design, the senior class council, who are the designers of the wall, considered having a simple sunset before deciding to incorporate the sunset and a hot air balloon together. The balloon itself is teal, the color of the Class of 2013.
Generally the senior class council and their moderators, Ms. Marian Shackel and Mr. Tom English collaborate and decide on the theme of the wall. The group then go to the preselected artists from the senior class and agree upon a design.
In this case the senior class council already had a basic sketch of what they wanted the wall to look like and to represent their idea. The artists were then able to interpret the sketch and come up with a final design for the wall.
“It’s really kind of a collaborative effort,” Ms. Shackel says.
Hopefully the senior wall will be finished by the end of September. Keep an eye out for the new senior wall and do not forget to recognize the amazing artists of our senior class!
