Sweater weather is upon us, but staying warm, fashionable, and still in dress code can be difficult. The Talon spoke with some fashionable Falcons about how they craft cozy and spiffy fits.
CB’s lax dress code gives students like Jahon Eslamian (‘20) and Nathan Hertzler (‘19) the opportunity to craft outfits that channel and encourage self-expression. Jahon was quick to clue us in on his dynamic fashion sense.
“My fashion sense is all over the place, it really depends on my mood,” he says. “If I’m tired and want to be comfortable, I’ll wear looser clothing with something warm. But if I’m trying to flex, I can never go wrong with mixing colors to make my look stand out a bit”.
Similar to Jahon, Nathan describes his style as cozy and comfortable.
“My style is very cozy — if it’s not comfortable, I’m not wearing it,” the senior says amiably. He adds that many of his fits are inspired by his love of skateboarding.
“People call my fashion sense skater, but it’s fine since I actually skate,” he said with a laugh.
We asked Jahon about the best places to cop some trendy threads, and he described the colorful and unique clothing selection at Urban Outfitters and Pacsun.
“Urban and Pacsun are my go to stores to shop at because they always have clothes that stand out and that aren’t too plain,” he says.
Nathan describes his tried and true school fit, which never fails to include his camo cargo pants, which are known to be a staple item for all fashion icons. Luckily for us, Nathan falls nothing short of a fashion guru and was more than willing to break down the craze over the camo cargo pants.
Nathan describes the affordability and comfortable wear of camo cargo pants and says that “camo cargo pants are great because they are cheap, durable, and really comfy”.
Jahon’s go to winter fit is slightly more simple than Nathan’s, but certainly just as stylish. Jahon crafts his fit based off of a simple hoodie or sweater, which he layers with a jacket to complement the overall look.
There is no doubt that these confident and fashionable individuals have no problem expressing themselves through their unique style. But for some of us, stepping outside of our comfort zone and styling “trendy” outfits can be daunting. Jahon and Nathan offer advice to those who want to experiment with fashion and encourage them put their worries aside and rock a new outfit.
“Be yourself and don’t worry about what other people are going to think about the outfit,” Nathan remarks.
“Don’t sweat it, just wear what makes you happy — look good, and feel good,” Jahon says.
CB is comprised of many fashion-forward Falcons who stay dressed to the nines on the daily. Having stellar style in the cold winter months is not only impressive, but seemingly a challenging task. So next time you are thinking about stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying out a new fit, consider these fashion tips from CB’s very own Jahon and Nathan.
