Find out just how weird CB students are when it comes to preparing for football games.

With football season quickly approaching and the excitement for the big games steadily ramping up, Christian Brothers students begin to prepare themselves for the energy that manifests under the lights of Hughes Stadium

Some of these students just show up to the game. Others went the extra mile to perform what they believe will give the team the extra supernatural help it needs.

Luke Harris (’16) was the first to share his tradition with me.

“I prepare for Holy Bowl by going crazy the Friday before,” Luke pridefully exclaimed. “I dress entirely in blue, and I go nuts at the rally.”

He concluded with saying that the enthusiasm he brings to Friday puts him in the right mind set for the big game the next day.

The always interesting Riley Wong (’16) proudly discussed his tradition of eating cashews before the game.

“Before Holy Bowl, I usually go to my friend Andres’ house and eat cashews,” Riley shared. “I put them in a cup and take sips as if I were drinking a beverage.”

Although the origin of this tradition was never made clear, I was assured that our boys on the field can rest easy knowing that they will have the help of the Riley Wong.

Finally, I found someone who really shakes things up in honor of Holy Bowl. When asked if she does anything special for the big game, Sierra Ramirez (’17) revealed she makes an annual pre-Holy Bowl Chipoltle trip.

“Well, I always go to Chipoltle before the game. Usually I get a burrito bowl, but on the day of the game I always get a burrito. I dont know, it’s just something I do.”

When asked why she doesn’t get a burrito bowl to go with Holy Bowl, she simply told me to “back off” and “and get [my] own tradition.”

No matter what you do for your pre-game ritual, it will be greatly appreciated by everyone participating in game. We need all the help we can get to help our boys win and show everyone else what we’ve known for a long time:  Christian Brothers is the superior school.
