A look at the women’s basketball team’s successful season as they prepare for their playoff run.
The 2014-2015 Christian Brothers women’s basketball team went undefeated in league play. Their 14-10 overall record and 10-0 league record has already got them a Capital Athletic League title and has them on track to a great run in the upcoming Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs.
The girls play a hard-nosed brand of basketball with every player is hustling on both ends of the floor. The Lady Falcons lock down opponents on one end with physical defense and run a fluid offense on the other.
Despite recent success, the season got off to a turbulent.
“We had a rough start to the season” said Tina Ramirez (’16)
But as Kira McKechnie (’15) explains that this adversity was all part of the plan:
“Our coach got us a tough preseason schedule to get us ready for playoffs,” she explains.
That tough preseason obviously paid off as the team played great in the regular season and can hopefully continue in the post season.
Players also cited other factors as the key to their success, besides the experience from preseason.
“Our coach really believes in us. Our starting five has really good chemistry.” explains Giselle Cantiller (’16). “The whole team has good chemistry, we play unselfishly, and are all ready and determined win.”
Playoffs begin Tuesday night against El Dorado and the 8th seeded Falcons are looking to continue their great team play and attitude as they vie for the league title.
