Father Murin and the seven girls: CB religion teacher gives insight into the pros and cons of being the father to six daughters.
Living in a house with all members of the opposite sex can be difficult. Imagine being the only male in a house with seven females. For CB teacher Father Francis Murin, this is a reality.
“There is never a dull moment in my house,” admits Father Murin. “I always have someone to talk to.”
His relationship with his daughters is great, he says “I just wish I had more time.”
It is difficult to distribute his time and attention between all six girls.
“My time with them is precious,” says the loving father.
What is a father of six girls to do when in need of some guy time? Father Murin escapes by watching the movie Invincible once a month for “some male company.”
As for the struggles of having such a large immediate family, Father says they have “the same problems as every other family: time, space, and money.”
While he enjoys raising girls, Murin admits that “this drama thing” is a foreign concept to him.
“I don’t know if I will ever get used to it, but I am doing my best,” he says.
Fights between his daughters are always very emotional. To mediate problems, Murin sits his daughters in different corners to cool off, and then listens to both sides and the story and then compares.
At the end, he takes a courtroom approach and “issues a standing order for apologies.”
Although they don’t always come right away, apologies are always exchanged between the sisters.
He loves his family and cherishes his relationships with his daughters, but Father Murin remains a hopeful person;
“I’ve been hoping for a son for the past six times” he chuckles.
