Just last year our men’s soccer team dominated playoffs and returned home with a section title. With high hopes and even stronger determination, the boys plan to fight their way to a section title again.

With an impressive overall record of 14-1-4 and league record of 7-0-3, the Falcons are going into their playoff match with the confidence needed to bring home a win.

CB is currently ranked #4 in all of California, giving the boys a leg up as they have been placed with the #1 seed in the Division III playoffs. They have been guaranteed home field advantage up until the section championship game, including Tuesday’s first round playoff match (3 PM).

Senior co-captain Kristian Heptner (’15) feels that with their heart and desire to win, that this team is more driven than any other competitor.

“I feel confident this year,” says the senior. “I think our team has really come together this season, and I’m looking forward to what we can do with our playoff run. We have a really talented group of guys who want to win, so I think we can bring the title home again.”

Heptner to date has 37 goals and is ranked as the #1  leading goal scorer in California.

Returning senior goalkeeper Alec Edelmayer(’15) is back on the pitch after his astounding performance in the section championship title game last season.

Edelmayer feels that he and his team have rightfully earned their spot to claim back to back titles.

“In the beginning of this season we established some goals: to beat Jesuit and return to sections,” says Edelmayer. “We are very excited that we have the chance to be back and reclaim our title.”

Although they were unable to beat Jesuit, they still have a phenomenal chance of being able to return to the section championship.

Defender Joseph Delgadillo (’15) says the environment during playoffs is very different than during league.

“We’re glad to be back in playoffs, it’s a totally different atmosphere,” says Joe. “I look at it as we’re not defending the section title, we’re attacking the section title to win it again.”

The boys will be taking their first step in “attacking the title” in their first playoff game after school today. They are taking on Vallejo High School at 3pm here at CB. Best of luck to all of our boys!
