Despite the loss against Jesuit, Brothers soccer still has the determination to retain their section title.

On Tuesday September 9, our Christian Brothers men’s soccer team fought hard against our biggest rivals, the Jesuit Marauders.

Unfortunately, the boys did not come out with a win, but they did not disappoint with their determined play. With the support and love of Falcon Force and the CB fans, the team put up a strong fight against Jesuit.

Even though the game ended in a 3-0 loss for CB, it was only motivation for the team to bounce back and continue on with their season.

Senior goalkeeper Alec Edelmayer (’15) feels the Falcons stepped up as a team and has no regrets about their effort.

“I honestly felt that there was not one true leader,” says Edelmayer. “We knew how important this game was to our school, so as a team we all stepped up and played to the best of our abilities. I would not change anything, because we played with heart and determination throughout the whole game.”

This shows the determination and drive of the 2014 varsity squad — they never gave up, played with heart, and held their heads high.

Co-captain and striker Kristian Heptner (’15) says that the Holy Cup match will only make the team better.

“I think that every year after Jesuit we have always stepped it up,” Heptner explains. “Playing a program like Jesuit with such high quality makes us step up our game because it shows how much better we can do. It was a wake up call, but I only see us improving from here on out.”

The team bounced back with a 10-1 win over West Campus last Thursday, which should give them the boost they need to head off to a tournament in Portland this weekend, and for the rest of the season.

Co-captain Spencer Mestas (’15) says that despite the disappointing loss, the Falcons’ goals remain the same.

“We should win league and a section title, no doubt about it,” the senior says. “We have some very strong and talented players, but in actuality it will depend on some of the other players so step up and play well in big games. That will make us a winning team, we just have to put the pieces together.”

The loss against Jesuit was not a minor setback for the boys, but a wake up call for them to push harder and win league.
