It may just be a book, but it holds memories of our youth that lasts a lifetime.

The yearbook is an iconic symbol that shows the school year is coming to an end. But it also serves as a piece of each student’s high school history. The amount of work put into the yearbook each year is often underappreciated, or not even thought of at all.

“We have no breaks, every day is a hard working days and everyone does their best to get the yearbook finished ahead of time if possible.” Jonathan Hallman (’14) reports with a smile.

The yearbook is not a project that students can dive into working on immediately. It takes careful planning, and hours of commitment to bring to fruition.

“We take a few weeks to brainstorm ideas and a theme. After that we spend everyday in here working and even come in at lunch and after school occasionally.” Maddy Hamzy (’14) tells the Talon.

The 14 seniors working on yearbook as part of the Advanced Journalism class with Ms. Chrys Cassetta are responsible for giving the CB community a final product the will be pleased with and be able to look back on for years to come.

“The goal is to be creative while remaining consistent with the themes and colors of previous yearbooks.” Natalie McElvy (’14) informs the Talon.

But what exactly does the yearbook provide CB student with? Maddy Hamzy believes that the yearbook “summarizes the entire year and allows people to look back on their high school memories.”

According to Ms. Cassetta, “the yearbook provides a physical item to hold in your hands and remind you of all the wonderful things that make Christian Brothers.”

High school is an impactful and important time in every person’s life. Having a way to reminisce may not seem important to current students, but trust me fellow Falcons, reminiscing is all we will have 50 years from now.
