Some CB seniors have some tips to stay healthy and fit.

Christian Brothers High School is very sports oriented. Most students are commited or involved in some kind of sport at CB. Not only do students take their sports seriously, but a lot are getting into the gym craze.

Getting gym memberships has become a popular thing happening at CB. The Talon went to talk to Cameron McKibben (’14) and Bianca Chamorro (’14) about how they got into fitness. This summer she got a gym membership and since then has been taking it very seriously.

“I started going and I really liked it,” she says. “I do cardio usually every day ,but I have certain days when I focus on certain things such as arms, legs, or back.”

Going to the gym inspired her to live a healthier lifestyle.

“After I was going to the gym a lot I started eating a lot healthier too,” the senior says. “It’s really important to make sure you’re eating healthy while you’re on a strict workout schedule because if you’re eating [bad], food then there’s no point of working out.”

However, she is resisting the temptations of unhealthy sweets and snacks.

“It’s hard, but I just remind myself that it’s better for me,” she says of her diet. “I pack a lot of healthy snacks , like carrots and wheat thins, and for meals I make sure that I eat a good balance of meats, fish, vegetables, and carbs. My mom helps me a lot too, she’s really supportive.”

Bianca plans on sticking to her workout routines and eating healthy for the rest of her life.

“It’s not a diet, it’s a lifestyle,” Bianca says smiling. “I’m so glad that I decided to become healthier — it’s honestly the best decision I’ve ever made.”

Unlike most people, Cameron is vocal about his gym obsession.

“I post a lot of pictures on Instagram and tweet about it a lot, it’s just like a hobby for me,” he says. “I don’t watch a lot of TV or anything so I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t work out all the time — it is honestly a way of life.”

Cameron keeps a strict gym schedule.

“My favorite is to work arms, I lift a lot and work on my back a lot too,” the senior says. “I have dedicated things to certain days — I”ll do shoulders and back on one day, and legs a other day, and arms on another day — it keeps it organized.”

The gym rat also drinks protein shakes that he makes from home every day.

“I plan on doing this the rest of my life, it’s my favorite thing.”

Christian Brothers is a great motivational place to be active and get fit, as we have our own gym and there are so many sports that anyone can try out. It’s a great way to find out what kinds of activities you’re into, so go work out!
