Who is the funniest teacher at CB?
Walking through the campus of Christian Brothers High School, classrooms full of students can be seen and their eyes are sometimes all focused one person, their teacher.
Teachers must try to capture the attention of classrooms full of kids everyday, and many find the best way to do this is through humor.
So the Talon went to the students of CB to see who they believe the funniest teachers of the school are.
Alex Dow (‘16) believes Mr. Eckel is the funniest teacher because “he lights stuff on fire in class and all his stories from the Coast Guard.”
Asked who his pick is for funniest teacher, Jack Steindorf (‘15) answers “Mr. Zannetti is the funniest teacher at CB because he has the best jokes and he never passes up the opportunity to make the class laugh.”
When a teacher takes the time to make a class laugh, the students become more invested in the class and open up to the teacher. One teach who does this is history teacher Mr. Leporini.
“Mr. Lep is a funny teacher because he takes awkward moments and makes them funny,” says Victoria Moore (’15).
No one enjoys awkward moments and when a teacher takes them and makes them funny students see and appreciate the effort.
With class clowns and constant student banter. teachers can have trouble breaking through — but not Ms. Tracey Chadbourne. The Spanish teacher turns these distractions into opportunities for humor with the “Chadburn” stamp. Whenever possible, Ms. Chadbourne takes the jokes of class clown and turns them around and leaves a stamp as a reminder of this burn. This trendy term is not a literal “burn”, but another name for a witty comeback.
“Ms. Chabourne is really funny she’s hilarious and she has great jokes and her Chadburn stamp is great.” says Mikhail Mabourakh (‘15) after being asked who his choice for funniest teacher.
When a teacher uses humor to capture their classes attention, they reveal who they really are and when students learn more about their teachers, they respond to their lessons better.
With the constant pressures of grades, college and after school activities it is nice when a teacher takes a break from the lesson to crack a joke or two.
