Dreams will come true Wednesday for a select group of CB student-athletes.

Wednesday, February 5th.

Another ordinary day, or a day that defines the next chapter of a student-athlete’s life?

This is National Signing Day, a big day for many athletes across our school and our nation. It signifies all of the hard work and dedication these kids have put into their respective sports as their dreams have culminated.

The stress of finding a college to spend the next four years of their life is retired as a college comes calling these in admiration these kids and their skills in their sports venues.

National Signing Day is held on the first Wednesday of February every year. Held nationwide, students who have committed to play sports at the college level sign a letter of intent to enroll at their school of choice this upcoming fall.

Senior Jaymee-lee Bulda (’14) is headed north to Boise State to play volleyball and will be signing her letter of intent on Wednesday with her fellow classmates.

“It is kind of overwhelming because it’s so official,” she says. “Knowing your hard work paid off in the end is the most amazing feeling.”

The process of choosing a place to be for the next 4 years can be a tough choice. Jaymee chose Boise State because of how warm and welcoming the school and volleyball team are, as well as the profound athletic history there.

While at BSU, Jaymee plans to major in child psychology and go to as many sporting events possible to support her school. One of the most exciting parts of choosing Boise State for Jaymee is the traveling.

“I know we travel to a ton of places and I’m really looking forward to that!,” she says excitedly.

Signing with Jaymee on Wednesday will be her classmate Hayden Jones (’14).

Hayden recently committed to play football for the University of Colorado and will also be signing his official letter of intent on Wednesday.

“It was my best option that I had,” the tight end says. “Once meeting the coaching staff and seeing the place — I knew that it was the right fit for me.”

While at Colorado, Hayden will play tight end which is what he has always aspired to do. However, football will not be Hayden’s only venture at Colorado, as he plans to major in business and work in the management field.

Football was not the only factor in Hayden’s decision. He chose Colorado because of its location.

“[Boulder] is a great college town,” he claims. “The whole town is based off the college,” adding that he also looks forward to meeting new people and experiencing new things in his soon to be new home.

One of these new experiences will be playing in the PAC-12 atmosphere.

“I get to play at Cal, at Stanford, at UCLA, all of the great schools I’ve grown up watching,” the senior says.

Above all, Hayden is thrilled to play the sport he loves at the next level, and he credits CB for helping him reach his goals.

“It’s a huge honor to be able to spend [Signing Day] with my family and friends — and to have it where my career began…at the place that taught me everything I know.”
