The men’s Varsity Cross country team stepped up and made CB proud by fighting to get to state for the first time in five years.
With hard work, determination, and faith, the boys Cross Country team strove to win a section title and make it to state.
Even working with one of the youngest teams they have had in years, the varsity boys never let down. Everyone has stepped up and helped contribute to the awesome achievement of state.
Five years ago, the men’s XC team made it to state and placed 20th, but they have done amazing things this year. Everyone on the team has been stepping up and working hard to place well.
“I expect some really great results next week at state,” says senior leader Max Pedrotti (’14). “I think a Top 5 finish is definitely possible, but if everyone on the team competes to their full potential we could go all the way and win it all.”
The boys not only have faith in themselves, but in one another to go all the way and reach maximum success.
One of the younger runners, Michael Sparks (’16), has been training for the past two years and is nervous for his upcoming races.
“I’m really excited to be making it to state this early on in my time on the team,” Sparks explains. “I don’t really know what to expect, but considering how our team has been doing so far, if we give it the same amount of effort that we have been, we have the potential to do really well at state!”
The women’s team, unfortunately, did not make it as far as the boys, but still ranked in the top 10 in the section, making our school community proud.
Three year varsity XC runner Maddie Murphy (’15) is sad that her season is over, but has faith for next year.
“This season was a good transition season for the varsity girls,” says Maddie. “We worked hard all season and it can only get better for us next year. Sadly, we did not reach our goal of making it to state this year, but it will only make us work that much harder and want it more next year.”
Even though our ladies couldn’t go all the way, they represented CB well and made our school proud. Good luck next year, ladies.
Our boys team has faith in each other and has great potential to achieve success at state.
With full support from CB, the whole community wishes them the best of luck as they take on state next week. Good luck, boys!
