Learn about an unsung star in the world of CB athletics.
Many sports at CB get recognized on a daily basis, and all its athletes are very well known around the school.
But one of the most under-appreciated sports at CB is its tennis program. Year in and year out they produce solid seasons and most people do not know what are on its team.
One standout on the team who has been strong in past years is Winston Limhengco (’14), a tennis prodigy who intends on making a name for himself in tennis for years to come.
Not the only tennis player in the family, his brother, who graduated last year, is now playing on the club team at Cal.
Winston is an early admit to Johns Hopkins University, a private institution in Baltimore, Maryland. He intends on playing club there and fine tuning his game at the college level.
Winston has placed very high and won many high profile tournaments across the country during his high school career. However, since it is the offseason, he has not done any notable tournaments as of late.
As for right now, he is in training mode to be bigger, faster, and stronger for this upcoming season.
“I do a lot of running right now, and I go to the gym every day to just get stronger so the game comes easier to me,” the senior says.
As for the upcoming season for the Falcons, Winston has high hopes for the team.
“I think we’ll be pretty good this year, I think there are a couple good freshman so we will be pretty good,” the senior says, “But I will probably just do club and not play high school tennis because it is better competition.”
During the spring season, be sure to watch out for the Falcons Mens Tennis team as they prepare to have another strong season. Even without Winston, they will still have a strong team with a lot of young talent.
Also keep an eye out for Winston’s name in the future, because he will be a top tier player for years to come.
