A popular CB landmark may soon be removed from campus.
Many students and faculty have seen the “hole in the bush” located by the sophomore wing. But how did it come to be where it is now? And will it be gone soon?
An advocate of the bush is AnnaMarie Carmazzi (’15) who says that she used the hole the most as a freshman to deal with the crowded sophomore hallway.
“It makes things easier,” she says of the famous shortcut.
According to in-depth Talon research, on average at break, 41 students use the bush to get where they need to go as opposed to using the sophomore hallway. But Mr. Danny Delgado tells the Talon that they might be closing off the bush for the winter season.
The Talon told AnnaMarie about the rumors of the pathway being closed off for student use and her justified response was, “Shut up! No they’re not.”
Mr.Delgado is against the bush and says the only reason it is used is to because of the students lack of concern for cleanliness in the classroom and typical teenage laziness. The science instructor looks back on his first years at Christian Brothers and says the hole in the bush used to be closed off by a pole preventing students to go through the passage way but was later removed for “obvious” reasons.
Mr. Anderson was infuriated with the topic of shrubbery and refused to comment but mentioned to the Talon that he reflects on occasions where in fact he has beaten students to their destination when he takes the solemn concrete road.
Kristen Geibel (’15) says that when and if this bush was to be gone it would effect her greatly stating the shortcut,”it makes the travel time a lot shorter and I can avoid the big crowds.”
The bush is more than just a it’s a way out, a way to get the better Sogo cookies first.
