Drumming Up School Spirit

The CB Drumline gets fans rockin’ at all big events.

Every CB student who has gone to a rally or sporting event have heard them, and have loved them. The CB drumline rallies our school together while pumping us full of fighting spirit.

“As soon as people hear that rumble of the drums, they know it’s an exciting thing” says CB drumline director Mr. Travis Maslen.

CB drumline has been rumbling Falcon spirit for five years now and has grown from a seven student program to a strong 15. The CB Cadence (the main song played by drum line) was written by one of the first seven students in the program, Michael Block ’08. The group uses the same cadences and songs each year, allowing the older members to become very familiar with them and the program to come together in time for Holy Bowl each year.

Drumline is made up of a diverse group of musicians from Honors Band. There are only two actual drummers on the line, Nick Garcia (’15) and Tommy Lipper (’14). According to Mr. Maslen. this gives the line a smoother sound and an overall better sound.

15 drummers is large for a drumline, however, and Mr. Maslen does not see himself adding more to the line and would even cut the line down if they were to enter a competition.
