Everyone listens to music, some more often than others. But what is CB listening to?

Ms. Stephanie Roybal gave her input on her favorite music selections without even a slight hesitation. The CB history teacher confesses she is a major Coldplay and Train fanatic, saying excitedly, “I own like every Train album that has ever existed!”

Ms.Roybal does not discriminate when sharing her favorite music genres such as Rock, Pop Rock, R&B, Motown, and even Country, her favorites since her high school days.

Yaceli Toledo (’15) mentions that her favorite song is “Holy Grail”  by Justin Timberlake and Jay Z. The song topped the Billboard 200 album chart for a solid two weeks and caught the ears of students and faculty staff at our very own Christian Brothers High school.

Christian Brothers Band Director Mr. Travis Maslen also gave his insight into the music world, telling the Talon some inspiring words.

“Music is just one of those things to have the power to make us really happy,” he says. His music taste has changed dramatically since high school, going from a Pink Floyd and Metallica man to turning over into the Classical and Jazz scene.

Mr.Maslen knows the popular genre of today’s generation is rap, but he admits that rap does have good rhythms and beats but it just isn’t his favorite.

Claire Jones Ruman (’15), isn’t a fan of the genre, however.

“I’m not a fan of how women are sexualized in most rap songs,” the junior says.

Christian Brothers is well rounded and cultured in music,  as students and teachers alike all listen to different music.
