What are you doing over summer? Hopefully it’s something as cool as your fellow classmates.

Summertime is the one and only time in a student’s life when one can find free time. What students do with their free time can range anywhere from fun to productive or, sadly, even boring. But what are CB students doing this summer to keep themselves away from the grueling, treacherous, ghastly hands of boredom?

Many students such as Marika Rodgers (‘14) travel during their free time.

“I’ll be going to Mexico and possibly even New York over the summer,” says the junior.  “I’m really excited!”

For other students who aren’t given the opportunity to travel far, a simple visit to Six Flags can keep them entertained. Freshman Von Thompson (’16) explains the soon to be highlight of his summer.

“We are renting a tour bus!” exclaimed the freshman. “And we are taking like fifty people — it’s going to be sweet!”

Surely taking all of your friends to Six Flags would be an incredible amount of fun for anyone. But with all of this incredible heat we will be experiencing, how can we cool down? Standing in front of a fan or spending time alone in a pool can be relaxing and cooling, but where is the fun in that?

“I try to go to Sunsplash to keep cool and have a blast at the same time” says sophomore Travis Forrest (’15). “It’s is always a blast there.”

Going to Sunsplash is a fairly common activity for many people during summer. Some people can’t get away from the water filled excitement and will stop at nothing to get their fix of adrenaline.

“I love going to Sunsplash, but I have so many responsibilities this summer,” says Tyler Smith (’14), “I have to work at my family bakery, The Bread Store, and I also have summer school. But I still plan on going all the free time I get!”

So get out of your seats this summer and do something. Summer school can’t hold back the magical time of summer and the numerous possibilities for having fun.
