Christian Brothers’ brand new Photography Club has been progressing and making big changes this year.

Even though Christian Brothers has multiple courses on video production, the art of photography is completely overlooked. One student sought to change this.

The Christian Brothers Photography club was created by beloved KBFT star Emma Bradford (‘14) out of her passion for this art.

“I’ve always been really into photography and video,” she says, “I was surprised to find freshman year that there wasn’t a photo club.”

Emma spent her sophomore year focusing on Video I so she would be able to make her season of KBFT the best it could be. This year, she has found the time to put this club into motion. Throughout this season and this year, Emma has been juggling this new club and her amazing work on KBFT. But it hasn’t shown at all, as her work in both fields has remained pristine.

According to Emma, there are seven consistent members. The club meets in KBFT every Falcon Flex period. Anybody who is interested in photography is welcomed to join.

“Our meetings are super laid back,” the junior says.

The Photography Club has been busy. They have made Flickr account and are urging club members to post their pictures on it so they can collect a stock of great pictures. They also plan on displaying several of their photos in the Library after they work hard enough to get their photos to a high level of artistic beauty.

“We want the photo club to be made up of people genuinely interested in digital photography,” says Emma, “not iPhone photography.”

The photography club is interested in making real art, and they are working hard to improve with every club meeting.

“I think real photography has to express what the photographer feels about what is being photographed,” says Emma, “Photography club itself could definitely help a person learn how to express themselves through a photo, in fact, I think that should be the ultimate goal of the club.”

If you or anyone you know is interested in joining the photography club, simply come to KBFT during Falcon Flex and join in the passion.
