Our CB swimmers have a new coach, but high expectations remain.
With the first semester over, many spring sports are preparing to dominate the season through conditioning and practice. Of these many teams is our own swim team.
Swimming is an objective based sport which is comprised of competing against not only other schools, but also yourself. The goal of the swimmer at a meet should be to beat their previous time rather than their opponent, which in essence wins them that specific round. There are numerous events that take place at a meet, some include freestyle, breaststroke, and butterfly.
The CB swim team is working hard to prepare for their 2013 spring season and hope to do well with their new head coach, Mr. Bryan Peck.
“He is a nice guy” says swimmer Anna Blake (‘14) of her new coach. “He seems to have a strong desire to build the team for success this season.”
Many players are optimistic about their season, including first time swimmer Dan Roewsuski (‘14).
“I started swimming mainly to condition myself for water polo,” says the swim team rookie. “I think it will be a fun year for us all, and I’m sure we will do good too.”
Many players come back to the swim team because of the strong team foundation and fun experience they have.
“I have been swimming ever since I was five,” Anna says. “I have done swim all three years of my high school career. The big factor that draws me back to swimming is the fun I have with my team.”
