Meet a talented CB freshman who has a shot at going to the Olympics.
Freshman Ashley Geary (’16) is an outstanding swimmer. She has been swimming for as long as she can remember and has a deep passion for the sport.
“Ever since I was really little I have wanted to swim and to go to the Olympics,” she says. “So I am just going to work really hard and do my best to get there.”
While that dream is shared by many, few actually have the opportunity to realize their dream of reaching the highest level of their sport. Ashley, on the other hand, may just get there.
“My mom and my coaches are telling me that I do have the potential,” the dedicated athlete states. “I am good enough and have enough determination to make it.”
Once her Olympic hopes are realized, or the time for that has passed, Ashley hopes to help others pursue their greatest dreams too.
“I want to help people, especially with swim. I really love [the sport].”
Until then, she is swimming varsity for CB and thinks the team “is looking pretty good so far.” With the combination of her talent and that of the many other swimmers, Ashley has high hopes for CB Varsity Swim.
“There are a lot of people that are really good, and I have recruited some more people to join,” she adds. “While there are some people that need work, I really think we will get there.”
In her spare time, Ashley devotes herself to swimming on her club teams, Rio Del Oro and Arden Hills. Even though the time commitment is great, for this intense athlete, it is all worth it.
“If you have a dream, you should pursue it. If you really want it, it’s worth it to work hard and be the best.”
