Shadow days have begun and it is up to Christian Brothers students to show prospective eighth graders why CB is the place to be.
For eighth graders, shadow days plays a crucial role in determining where they will spend their high school years. It is important for CB students to be aware of how influential they are in that decision process. In order to make the shadow day experience a good one, there are a few things that students need to keep in mind as they interact with the shadows.
According to CB Director of Admissions Mr. Kenny Kirrene (‘78), the most important thing for students to do in order to make the shadow day experience enjoyable, is to be welcoming.
“It’s important for [students] to greet the kids and make them feel like they matter and that they’re wanted,” says Mr. Kirrene.
It is also just as important to be positive and enthusiastic, especially for those students that are hosting shadow visits.
Mr. Kirrene emphasizes that “[students] need to remember how in awe they were the first time they [visited] CB and what it felt like to be on a high school campus,” because it is an eye opening experience for eighth graders as they catch their first glimpse of high school life.
So remember to put on our friendly faces and make the shadows feel welcome in order to make their visit as memorable as possible.
