Junior Allie Schwartz snagged an internship that is giving her valuable work experience while helping her develop her fashion style.
Allie Schwartz (’14), a bubbly and good-hearted junior is a member of the Nordstrom BP Fashion Board, an internship for high school girls that are interested in fashion. The girls who are lucky enough to participate learn all about how Nordstrom’s conducts business, including merchandising and advertising. They also learn about fashion trends and the importance of developing their own personal own styles.
“[Working for Nordstrom] is great work experience and [is] so fun!” Allie exclaims.
In addition to working hard, Allie recently had the opportunity to participate in a fashion show.
“I was a little nervous at first because there were so many people there, but once I got out there I was able to just have fun with it and really enjoy myself,” the junior said, adding “I cannot wait for our next fashion show coming up this spring!”
Going into the Fashion Board, Allie didn’t know anyone else participating in the program. But the fashionista made a lot of great friends with the girls that are also on the Fashion Board.
“I really enjoy working with the girls in the program because we are all very interested in fashion and always have a lot of fun together.”
After high school Allie wants to go to college, where she plans on majoring in public relations with a minor in either advertising or fashion merchandising. Her dream is to work as P.R. representative for a major fashion company, such as Nordstrom.
“Fashion will always be a part of my life as I embrace my style every day.”
Along with maintaining good grades in school, Allie also partakes in competitive soccer. She plays on the Blue Heat U-19 Competitive team for Rocklin.
“I love soccer and I have been playing every year since I was 4,” she says of her “other” passion.
Allie advises other high schoolers to look for internships. “I recommend an experience like this to other kids because it is great experience [and] an awesome way to meet new people.”
“When you like something so much you find ways to make time for it.”
