Relive CB’s magical Homecoming Week.
It was a successful week at Hogwarts! Wizard robes filled the school and you couldn’t walk to class without drawing your wand. Each day brought students closer together as they represented their Hogwarts “house” or class.
If you thought quidditch was intense, you should have seen the powder puff games this year. The girls put everything out on the field and had a lot of fun while doing so. Slytherin, also known as the junior class, took home this year’s “Potter Puff” title after winning the championship game against the sophomores of “Ravenclaw”. Congrats to the junior girls!
Another congratulations goes out to student council for organizing an enthusiastic and spirit-filled week at Hogwarts.
ASB co-president Maria Castro (’13) said she thought the week went well.”
“Everyone was really spirited and participated in the daily spirit day and it was a lot of fun,” she said.
A warm thanks to the student council for planning one of the most memorable homecoming themes at CB.
The week boiled down to the football game last Friday night against Bella Vista. No wands or spells were needed to take over the game, as the boys had a big win 40-14. Senior Zachary Brooks (’13) commented on his last homecoming game saying, “It went well, we won and that’s all that really matters.” He was happy with the student turn out, and the fact that a good amount of people showed up wearing black for the “blackout”.
Students also enjoyed becoming apart of Hogwarts. Highly spirited junior Agata Aks (’14) said she thought homecoming week “was great… and the dress ups were fun.” She also loved how students got “really spirited” this year.
Homecoming week of course can be really exciting when it’s your first time. Freshman Lauren Sims (’16) said homecoming was not what she had expected. She thought “it was so coo — a lot of fun,” and her favorite day “was actually the liturgy day because the priest was really good.” The freshman was “pleasantly surprised” by homecoming week and “really enjoyed [the week].”
Last, but certainly not least, we cannot forget the Hermione and Harry of the week. Seniors Alexa Bacher (’13) and Alex Daly (’13) stole the stage as they were crowned this year’s Homecoming Queen and King. We were so honored to be able to catch up with the queen herself and find out how it felt to receive such an honor.
“It felt really amazing. I was not expecting to win, and being nominated was surprising enough,” Alexa said. “I mainly felt honored that people even voted for me. Overall it was amazing and I’m incredibly happy that I won!”
After all of the potions and spells, cloaks and robes, CB students showed their wizard skills through the huge amount of spirit throughout the entire week. This was definitely one of the most memorable themes CB has ever had. Many thanks to the student council and every student who participated.
