When you think KBFT, you probably think of anchors Maddy MacLeod (‘14), Alex Daly (‘13), and Jenner Chapman (‘14), but there are many more amazing students who make the show come to life.

Christian Contreras (‘14) runs the sound for KBFT. Even though, he says he only took video production because “a lot of [his] friends did it”, he has become vital to the show’s broadcast.

Contreras had no interest in doing sound prior to his taking video production, however, after KBFT sound veteran Stephen Sanchez (‘13) took Contreras under his wing, the once skeptic knew he’d found his role in the broadcast.

“I loved the position because I was pretty good at it,” says Contreras, “so I got the job.”

He has big dreams for this year, stating that “one day [he’d] like to be an anchor.” He has a lot of confidence that this will happen as well. He definitely deserves his moment of glory, having worked hard on sound all year.

Continuing to achieve in the video program at Christian Brother, Contreras will be taking Video Production 3 next year, but you can catch his work every time KBFT airs in your B set or Homeroom. Also, watch carefully for him because he will be anchoring at least one time this year.

“Follow your dreams and anything’s possible,” he says. Certainly words to live by.
