Yet not as dangerous as the running of the bulls, the Magazine Drive pig race may be just as exciting.

This year’s Magazine Drive pig race will take place during the Homecoming Rally this coming Friday. Many B Sets will have pigs in the race due to their stellar production during our magazine drive that helps support student activities throughout the year.

Rivalries have formed throughout the magazine drive season. Mr. English and Mrs. Brousseau have been fighting over a green pig that Mrs. Brouseau’s B Set said they had first. It will be interesting to see how this rivalry plays out on race day.

A class anticipated to do well in this years race is Mrs. Holmes‘ B Set, last year’s victor. They have two pigs in the race, and trainer Rob Belme (’13) says “Our pigs are looking strong, and we hope to come out with a victory on Friday”.

Another class looking forward to there participation in the race is Ms. Bowers‘ B Set. The class also has to pigs which will take part in the race. Anthony Carvalho (’13), a member of the class, says “Ms. Bowers won’t allow anything but complete victory.” He said he expected the same thing as his beloved teacher.

However, Ms. Bowers’ has a rival of her own — the up and coming Mr. Anderson. After barely losing the overall Magazine Drive race to Ms. Bowers’ class, Mr. Anderson’s B set has one thing on it’s mind: revenge.

“My class is extremely motivated to win this pig race,” said Mr. Anderson, whose pig Purple Majesty will be one to watch on Friday. “Redemption has been the word that’s been floating around Room 303 for the past couple of weeks.”

We should have a great day come race day, and we hope to have a fair and exciting pig race.
