Want to find out how to take part in one CB’s most cherished weeks of the year? Check out the do’s and donts’ of homecoming week.

When you think Harry Potter, you usually think spells and wands. But this year, all CB is talking about is the amazing themes that are about to come with an HP-themed Homecoming Spirit Week.

Homecoming Week is a favorite time of the year for CB students, with every day bringing new costumes and fun. But what makes this year’s homecoming week so original?

Well, this year Halloween arrives right in the middle of Homecoming week, putting a whole new spooky spin on things.

Monday: The usual Stoplight Day. Students are allowed to wear jeans, sweats, or basketball shorts ONLY if they wear their red, yellow, or green shirt, or their spirit shirt! Do not come in leggings or jeggings, ladies.

Tuesday: Wizardly Alike Day — every student should look just like a wizard or at least a Harry Potter shirt to be able to wear jeans. Leggings are allowed this day, as long as they are worn over skirts, tutus, or shorts. If you ever wanted to be like Harry Potter, Tuesday is the day!

Wednesday: Happy Halloween! Students can wear their Halloween costumes as long as they are appropriate. If you’re not the spirited type, you can wear jeans ONLY if you wear an orange shirt, blue Falcon Force shirt, class spirit shirt, or a costume top. Also, please do not bring any weapon-like props to school if they are a part of your costume.

Thursday: Welcome to Hogwarts! Who knew a Liturgy Dress day could be so fun? Each class is assigned colors to represent their Hogwarts class. Freshmen are Hufflepuff and are to wear yellow and black. Sophomores are Ravenclaw and should wear blue and bronze. Juniors are Slytherin and are assigned green and silver. And the Seniors represent Gryffindor with red and gold. Yes, you must still wear khaki pants, but you are welcome to bring Hogwarts House accessories such as wands or hats.

Friday: We have Death Eater Black Out Friday! CB should be covered in black shirts. If you are either wearing your Spirit Shirt or black shirt, you can wear jeans.

This Homecoming theme is making students more excited than ever before. The Talon caught up with one of the biggest Harry Potter fans on campus, Lauren Payne (’13), who can’t wait to dress up and “be all Harry Potter” the entire week!

“[I’m most excited] for Black Out day, so I can wear my Harry Potter shirt!”

If you’re looking for someone to thank for this awesome theme, look to ASB and Student Council for coming up with this great theme.

“We brainstormed, and then we sat down a and eached worked on a couple of ideas for a day,” said ASB Co-President Tatijana Bowman (’13). “We selected one [and] divided it up and picked dress codes [for each day].”

However ASB and Student Council came up with these ideas, they certainly have all of CB geared up and ready to go. The Talon can’t wait to cover this amazing week of festivities and fun. Get your wands out and be ready for a magical Homecoming!
