Christian Brothers athletics are stepping up their game off the field with a new strength and conditioning trainer.
The Christian Brothers High School athletic department added to its strength and conditioning program earlier this year with the hire of Tom Ruilias from Results Physical Therapy Training Center. The addition of Tom to the CB teams will help them further excel on the field or court.
“My company was hired to start a new tradition in CB athletics,” Ruilias said. “This will make the teams physically stronger which will benefit each team in different ways.”
The coaches at Christian Brothers are excellent at what they do, but their conditioning knowledge only goes so far — which is why having a sports trainer will benefit the athletics community greatly.
Strength and conditioning is important for all athletes so they can be as physically fit as possible. All sports teams at CB have been given the opportunity to train with Tom in the workout room.
“All sports are invited to participate in our new program as a team,” says CB Co-Athletic Director Jill Bennett. “At this time not all spring sports are fully engaged yet, this is the first year we have this to offer though.”
So far, Ruilias has had nothing but positive feedback from athletes as well as coaches. Athletes who have started the training can see and feel the results.
“I enjoy having the trainer because he pushes us to our fullest potential,” says Varsity cheerleader Sarah Simoes ‘13. “He doesn’t just treat the cheer team like little girls he really pushes us. It has helped build stamina which helps at games and practice”
Over time, the strength exercises Ruilias gives will become more challenging in order to push each team to do their best and work hard each week and keep becoming stronger. The new strength trainer is taking Christian Brothers athletics to a place it has never been before.
