The CB Men’s Choir recently made a fruitful trip to Sacramento State.
For a month, Men’s Choir has been preparing for the Real Men Sing event at Sacramento State.
On the big day, every male choir singer at Christian Brothers was loaded onto a bus and brought to CSUS. They met up with male singers from fifteen other esteemed schools like Jesuit, Antelope, and Bella Vista, for this amazing event.
Kaalen Kirrene (’13), one of the singers representing Christian Brothers, enjoyed how loose the event was, claiming that it was “more like a work shop” for the hundreds singers in attendance.
Along with enjoying the “laid back” atmosphere, Kirrene also said he was astounded how the mass number of voices created an “entirely new sound” unlike anything he had ever experienced.
School rivalries were not present. According to Kirrene, the conductors really “brought the boys together” through the marvelous power of music. The Christian Brothers boys even got a compliment from one of the CSUS conductors.
Kaalen says the conductor praised the men of the Christian Brothers choir because she could “understand every word” they said, which is extremely difficult to do while singing in a mass group.
The men in the Christian Brothers choir program returned to the school with freshly discovered knowledge and a new respect for singers of other schools. You can catch Kaalen and the rest of the boys at any Christian Brothers liturgy, or at any of the choir events on the Christian Brothers School Calendar.
