Make sure to read every Tuesday to learn about the latest and greatest of pop culture.

Student pick: Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

Niel Valmores (’13) – Niel loves reading lengthy books and recently finished the biography Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson, claiming it was “the best book I’ve ever read.” The book was released October 24, 2011 and became a New York Times bestseller.

“It was very real and inspirational — not to mention well written,” the senior said.

The book is about the early life, accomplishments, and death of technology innovator Steve Jobs. The book is still in stores and Niel says that “every student should definitely buy it.”

Staff pick: The Big Lebowski

KBFT Program Director Mr. Brendan Hogan ’95 is quite the connoisseur of films and media. Mr. Hogan says his favorite movie is “The Big Lebowski” because, simply “the dude abides.”

This is an R rated comedic movie about “the dude”, an L.A. slacker who gets mistaken for a millionaire with the same name — and shenanigans ensue. This film has been called a classic with leading actors Jeff Bridges and John Goodman.

Talon pick: Babel by Mumford & Sons

Camille Peters – Talon Community Photo Editor (12) Camille loves to listen to Indie Rock music. Her favorite band is Mumford & Sons. Last week, they released their much anticipated new album, Babel , which is number one on the iTunes Best Selling Album Chart.

The Talon staff member loves Mumford & Sons because of “their acoustic sound and traditional English, folk background. They also sound different than any other artist today.” This past summer, Camille traveled to Belgium and saw her favorite band at the music festival Rock Werchter.

“The show was absolutely amazing and I have never seen a concert that great,” she said.

Mumford & Sons has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and has won the Brit Award for Best Album
