Falcon of the Week: Andrej Bevins

A talented and hardworking senior plays golf with the big boys.

“Im very hardworking and do not believe in laziness.”

Christian Brothers student, Andrej Bevins (’13), lives by this high standard.

Around campus, Andrej is known as the “golf guy”. The Talon caught up with the senior to find out more about how he earned his such a title.

Andrej learned to play golf when his dad took him to the driving range as a kid. He laughs as he looks back on this childhood memory.

“I sucked,” he said with a chuckle. “So I decided to keep working on it.”

Driven to succeed, Andrej is now playing with the big boys. Last December the hardworking athlete committed to the University of New Mexico, receiving a scholarship for golf. New Mexico has one of the best golfing facilities in the United States.

Andrej’s golf career allows him to play in many important tournaments. Just this year, the CB student has already participated in three national championships, including the U.S. Junior Tournament, finishing high in all of the events .

One of Andrej’s fondest memories is when he finished second in the Memorial Amateur at Ancil Hoffman. Our Falcon stood out amongst many college students in the tough competition.

Golfing on a competitive level requires a substantial amount or travel, which is a enriching opportunity that allows Andrej to see different parts of the country. The golfer’s all time favorite course is Kennedy Golf Course in Napa.

While on tour Andrej has the opportunity to meet many professionals.

“I am friends with Spencer Levin, who plays on [the PGA] tour,” the senior said. “Because he is better than me he motivates me to be better.”

As the humble and talented senior pursues his golfing career, he looks forward to, “that one round where [he doesn’t] make one single mistake.”

Andrej Bevins is a phenomenal golfer, a fantastic friend, and a great inspiration to all CB Falcons with dreams of their own.
