Holy Bowl Broadcast

For 11 years now, KBFT has broadcasted live morning news to students. These morning news segments are deeply appreciated by the viewers. KBFT’s informative, yet entertaining nature gives a delightful spin on the daily announcements.

But KBFT strives to reach a whole new audience with a new online enterprise — broadcasting live events.

“The idea of broadcasting live school events allows more people to see what we do,” KBFT program director Mr. Brendan Hogan ’95 told the Talon.

KBFT hopes to be able to go out and film more events to be streamed live online, just like they did with the 42nd annual Holy Bowl this year. The streaming broadcast received great reviews from past teachers and alumni around the nation.

“You guys are putting on one heck of a broadcast,” said Kris Anderson via Twitter.

“You guys should do live feeds all the time!!! Sounds awesome,” said Britney Belme ’11, also via Twitter.

There were some glitches along the way of broadcasting the Holy Bowl, but the crew has learned from its mistakes and is ready to embark on streaming even more live events, such as graduation and Hollywood Bowl.

Mr. Hogan says that the idea of streaming more events is really quite simple.

“We can do it with one camera and one computer” he said excitedly.

The spirited teacher has high hopes for the rest of Season 11. Christian Brothers students should definitely look forward to the ability to check out a game or event if they are unable to make it. The possibilities are endless and Mr. Hogan couldn’t be more excited.

“We could broadcast live sporting events everyday,” he said. “We can broadcast two at the same time.”
